My pals at Lexus seem to be big believers in the power of co-branding or “collabs” as the kids like to say. Last year I had a ball driving, hiking, and swimming around the Canadian Rockies on a Lexus GX550 adventure program, co-sponsored by the likes of Cannon and Adidas Terrex.
And who can forget when the automaker did a collection of killer sportswear with designer – and sneaker culture icon – Salehe Bembury? I still search eBay for those hoodies.
On that front, Lexus has just teamed up with another brand that’s kind of always cool and under the radar: Revo. I know Revo from sunglasses shopping and from Bode Miller’s incredible ski googles, but I’ve never had the pleasure of wearing a pair. That might change, soon, as some of the Revo x Lexus pairs look killer.
There are four models in this new collection, with two being aimed at the adrenaline junky (see also race car driver) type, and two slightly more appropriate for Cool Dads like yours truly. The Crafted and Spindle models fall into the latter group, and both seem right on point for the Lexus brand in general. (While the Podium and Double Stint feel – you’re not going to believe this – more like motorsports accessories.)
The Spindle, specifically, feels like it could’ve come from the dealership as part of a Lexus upgraded interior package. The leather side shields (or as I like to call them “sunglasses bund straps”) are a whole vibe, and seemingly crafted from the same caramel-y leather that decked out my last LC coupe test car. If you wear an Omegas Speedmaster five days a week, or own a really nice travel shaving kit – these are the sunnies for you.
Revo is know for killer optics and build quality, and as a result the sunglasses aren’t exactly inexpensive. The Lexus collection ranges from $239 to $279 based on model, and is available (as of this writing) at Revo.com.
